Each year GYC West hosts a young adult retreat to gain strength in the faith, network safely with like-minded believers, and seek a closer communion with our Father. For 2024 the theme will be "Turning Hearts." More details about this event and the theme to come.

Jeff Walper

Jeff Walper has been serving the Lord since 1998. He was given a piece of gospel literature in a bar in North Atlanta, which he read while drinking some beer and watching TV. The Holy Spirit touched his heart that early morning with the impression that He was calling him to surrender his life to Jesus and serve Him as a missionary. Jeff has been serving Jesus for the past 25 years and is currently the Outreach Pastor at Granite Bay Hilltop SDA Church. He has been married to his lovely wife Jodi Walper for 18 years and has three precious girls—Olivia 12, Rubi 10, and Elin 9. Jeff enjoys family time, gardening, camping, and hiking.

RJ Gamboa

RJ Gamboa is passionate about Jesus and has devoted his life to sharing the gospel. He is a representative for the General Conference Initiative “Sidewalk Evangelism”, serves as an evangelism director for Outpost Centers International, and is the co-founder of Go Beyond Podcast. He lives in Northern California with his beautiful wife, Charinette.

Gabriel Arruda

Gabriel Arruda, the president of Freedom Health Ministries, has been involved in outreach and preaching the everlasting gospel for 20 years. Gabriel specializes in training churches on how to facilitate revival, do effective evangelism, and engage in medical missionary work in their communities.

This year's GYC West is being held at Sierra Pines Camp, up in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains just south of Lake Tahoe.

A note about GPS: Google Maps has been proven to be accurate, however it tries to direct you off of Sierra Pines Road too early and onto a blocked road. Follow the road farther down. We will have GWC West signs up to help guide you.

Expect daytime temperatures in the 65° to 85° range and lows in the 40°s, with dry, mountain air and lots of sun.

Pricing and site notes

Until May 31st registration is $40 per person for the whole event. Afterwards it will be $60 per person. Meals and lodging are priced separately. Children are less, see the registration page.

Those who want to just come up Sabbath, please register for the weekend - even if you don't want to stay the night. Also please pre-purchase meals prior to the start of Sabbath or supply your own meals for that time.

Parking is limited, so please carpool where possible.

Expect mountain trail hiking, so pack what you'll need for it - especially water.

Please be aware that we will be recording and photographing our events, so please dress modestly.
